
The film is based on a Belarusian folk tale. The boy's mother found him under a bush with a whistle in his hands and brought him home. He was so loud that only the whistle in his mouth calmed him down. The boy grew up to be an excellent musician, and as soon as he began to play his flute or violin, everyone immediately started dancing. And so the young man set out to wander the world in search of his best tune. And who didn't he have to play for—in the forest for wolves, and in the sea for mermaids, and even at a witches' sabbath...
